Socialtext

Socialtext is an enterprise SaaS product that makes it easier for employees to share expertise, create documents and speed up workflows within their organization.

After several years of practicing Self-Design, Socialtext hired me to completely overhaul the core functions of the site, which included onboarding, connecting with co-workers (through enterprise social networking), and creating and finding content (through wiki page creation and micro-blogging).

Onboarding

We worked with company administrators to import employees and create groups. Some companies had tens of thousands of employees, which meant there would be people with varying degrees of computer experience. We constantly experimented with the onboarding process to find the right balance of information with the least amount of friction.

Mobile

Our mobile product served as a quick way to communicate across the customer’s company or within individual teams. Content creation remained on the desktop. Our mobile solution was built on the Kendo framework so that we could easily port our iOS design to Android and Windows.

Widgets

The Socialtext dashboard was completely customizable. Companies could create dashboards for their employees to highlight important dates, learning modules, videos, access to team members.
